MedicubeX and NE Device SW team up to enhance autonomous health assessment with contactless respiratory rate measurement
NE Device SW, an innovative medical device manufacturer of Vitacam, software measuring vital signs from video, and MedicubeX, the rapidly growing supplier of self-assessment booths announced an exclusive commercial agreement today. The agreement enables health providers across Europe, commissioning MedicubeX eHealth Stations, to obtain respiratory rate measurements from visitors performing a health assessment using Vitacam.
Vitacam utilizes computer vision to measure vital parameters automatically from a live video of a patient. The new feature will be available to use in new MedicubeX eHealth Stations and become available to current users following a software update. This will make it the first self-measurement kiosk to offer respiratory rate measurements and the first to take advantage of an in-built camera to obtain vital physiological measurements.
Respiratory rate is well established as a marker and an early indicator of acute disease. It is useful, for example, in assessing the prognosis of pneumonia, acute bronchial asthma, pulmonary embolism and heart failure. Vitacam measures respiratory rate by observing chest movements in real-time from a live video.
MedicubeX is active across Europe and has signed contracts in the Netherlands, Germany, Latvia and its home market Finland. The company aims to prevent cardiovascular diseases and to reduce pressure on nurses and clinicians by automating routine tasks in healthcare.

Under the agreement, Vitacam will be available in self-measurement stations, only provided by MedicubeX. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
